Klitra Ltd was founded in 1982 as the Non statutory training organisation for Knitting and Lace. It was set up by the various national and local trade associations which supported the industry at that time. In 1992 the British Narrow Fabrics Association decided to join us and recognised Klitra as its Industry Training Organisation.
Klitra continues to be a membership organisation with a Council of Management and its remit is support the training interests of the sector. The Council is made up of representatives from the various sectors such as Knitting, Lace and Narrow Fabrics throughout the UK. We attract funding from LSC, ESF and link into a partnership arrangement with a local college. Klitra then finds the most suitable providers to deliver these programmes to the industry. The membership covers the whole of the UK and represents over 70% of the industry. Klitra is currently project managing a pan European Leonardo da Vinci contract to develop interactive ICT training packages to deliver specialised areas of technical training.
Klitra aims to ensure that the right training is available at as little or no cost to the company/individual and that all the training requirements for the sector are available when wanted.
